Iliana Malihin, a winemaker and viticulturist, talks about the tragic hours lived by the residents of the village Melabes in Rethimno (Crete - Greece), from the devastating fires that broke out on July 15, 2022, and in almost 4 days burned 5,000 acres (20km²) of land and 90% of the old pre-phylloxera vineyards of Melampes -a village with a highly developed viticultural tradition and history.
